Hi, everybody around the music world. I'd like to ask you to tell anyone around you who is interested in classical singing that I and my Chinese soprano friend have published a new book about classical European singing for and in comparison with Chinese singers. You can reach our page at the publisher at
http://sbpra.com/zhongjunshenandpetersimon from where you can also get to our own site with the videos and an excerpt from the book at
http://learningeuropeanandchinesesinging.wordpress.com
Most of the videos can also be found on my youtube site too, at
http://www.youtube.com/speterkar
Hope some of you are interested and may later order the book in print or in e-book when I'm finished with it. Hope to have a nice chat about issues of singing later. Cheers!
Dumb American Brian Montgomery here. Thanks for your comment on my "screenplay" on Smashwords. I don't write to make everyone happy and I don't mind being disassembled and berated (which you certainly did). I hope on some ridiculous level, you were somewhat entertained too. Telling the absolute "true" story would be interesting but it wouldn't sell. Spice matters.
VálaszTörlésAnyway, I wish you the best of luck in selling your books and all that you do in the future. I will cross my fingers and hope that I can sell my work too after the review that you gave me.
Cheers to all who write and dare to dream that someone out there reads their words!
Hi, man! Thanks for coming back to me about it. I also wish you good luck selling your work, but yes, I enjoyed berating you. Truth be told, these stories are as old as the 'discovery of America', well, not by the Chinese but at least by Columbus and quite well-researched recently because historians were also intrigued in the region by those legends. What made me furious was that you mixed elements of unrelated and un-documented events with graphic scenes from Dracula-films of a few years ago and promoted the result as NON-FICTION. If you watch the latest Bathory Erzsebet-films (perhaps they've been dubbed in English by now), you'll see what happens when something is done well to historical figures. However, if you say something like, say, Christopher C. picked up his mobile on the Miami coast and asked the chief in Ivory Coast how many more Innuit slaves he could be sending over by helicopter from Africa the following day, that won't make any of your readers happier. That's the level of your mixture of history I'm afraid. Besides the gross stereotyping, your text is in itself good. It'd be fine if you just got rid of some of your tags like 'blood drinking vampires' of 'hungary'(!) and replace your fiction from the "Non-Fiction » True Crime » Murder" category somewhere else, nobody could cry shame. There's blood everywhere and some people are interested so why not - just call a spade a spade and not dancing on the Moon or something. Wish you further success.
VálaszTörlésOh, two more things. Those two legends are legends, so there's no truth to be told. Besides, they've been told and re-told so many times in such graphic depths that perhaps one more may not be such a good idea. But that you'll see and perhaps enjoy.
